Pat Lawlor is probably the most famous pinball designer out there. Number Eight Let’s go from one superstar pinball designer to another. Unfortunately, none of his other designs made this list, although he did design No Fear: Dangerous Sports and one of the machines in my honorable mentions. The second is that this playfield was designed by Steve Ritchie who is called The King of Flow thanks to his playfield designs incorporating fast ball speeds, large loops, and associated combos. The first is that the playfield has two rotating phaser cannons that can shoot pinballs towards certain targets. This pinball machine inspired me to put that theme on my Space Songs playlist. Predictably, the main song is the theme from Star Trek: TNG. Said missions could include dealing with a time rift, a visit from Q (who was essentially the original Discord down to having the same actor), holodeck simulations, and an attack from the Borg. I tend to go with starting a mission since it’s usually the easiest way to get points. They could involve (among other things) a skill shot or a super spinner mode. Depending on when you push the launch button, you can get five different rewards. Eight of the actors (including Patrick Stewart and John de Lancie, the only ones I am familiar with) reprise their roles from the show. Yet, I am quite experienced with this pinball machine. Not the original TV show, not The Next Generation, not even The Wrath of Khan. #9 Star Trek: The Next Generation – Despite being a nerd, I have not seen any of the Star Trek franchise. In any case, here is the machine I’m talking about. There also may have been another one of these machines in a nearby laundromat. I can remember playing a physical version of this machine at the S&T Bank Arena when my Cross-Country Team had home meets. Number Ten When I started writing this list, this was the most recent entry to The Pinball Arcade. Well, enough delaying the list, let’s get this started. I hope you get to read this list and maybe you can make a list like this of your own. I know you play The Pinball Arcade a lot in your spare time. I also would like to dedicate this review to We recently removed each other from our Deviant Watch due to our differing opinions over Jack Frost from Rise of the Guardians (let's just say he doesn't like Jack Frost and especially Jelsa with a passion). That said, the differences are all pretty minor. Therefore, some of them will look different from how they are on The Pinball Arcade. Martin is one of my favorite NASCAR drivers of all-time up there with Cale Yarborough and Chase Elliott and I love the idea of living underwater and still being somewhat human.Įditing Note: Some of these tables have been modded. They didn’t even get honorable mentions, but these machines do have a NASCAR style car on the backglass meant to resemble Mark Martin’s car at the time and a bunch of mermaids respectively. To celebrate this revolution in pinball culture, I am making my list of the Top Ten Best Pinball Machines on The Pinball Arcade (as of October 3rd, 2017,).īefore we start with this list, I must give a special mention to the game No Fear: Dangerous Sports and Fathom. Far Sight’s game The Pinball Arcade has allowed ordinary people to play classic pinball machines without having to spend their life savings in quarters or buy the machine for several thousand dollars (at least). Unfortunately, pinball has been largely relegated to the arcades until recently. While pinball may have started out as a simple game when it was electromechnical, advances in computer technology have allowed for complicated modes and rulesets. While there is some truth to this statement, there’s also a lot of skill involved in trapping the ball and using the flippers to shoot it to just the right areas of the playfield. The most common argument against it is that it’s a game of luck. Pinball is probably one of the most maligned games out there.
